Title
Empowering Rural Communities through Digital Resource Centres: A CSR Initiative
Background
Access to digital services, quality education, livelihood opportunities, and government schemes remains a challenge in many rural communities. To address these gaps, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative established Smartpur Digital Resource Centres across selected villages to provide digital access, skill development, entrepreneurship support, and community services.
The Challenge
The target villages faced several socio-economic challenges: Limited digital literacy among youth, women, and senior citizens. Restricted access to government welfare schemes and online services. Lack of market-oriented skill development opportunities. Limited employment and self-employment prospects. Inadequate access to digital infrastructure. CSR Intervention The project established community-based Smartpur Centres equipped with digital infrastructure and trained facilitators. The intervention focused on: Digital literacy and computer education. Access to e-governance and citizen services. Skill development and vocational training. Entrepreneurship promotion and support for local enterprises. Awareness programmes on health, education, financial literacy, and government schemes. Community engagement through workshops, demonstrations, and outreach activities.
