Communities in Anantnag face fragile livelihoods, harsh climatic conditions and poor connectivity. Most families are from BPL or Priority Household backgrounds, with unstable monthly incomes of ₹6,000–₹9,000 from daily-wage labour, shepherding and seasonal farming.

Interventions include horticulture training for climate-resilient crops, teleconsultation services and digital-literacy programmes for youth and women. Smartpur has emerged as a centre of hope and opportunity across these isolated communities.
