Devilal Kharadi, son of Nathulal Kharadi, from Pakharon village, Vasuva Gram Panchayat, joined the SMARTPUR Project in September 2024. Before joining the project, he was operating a small digital service centre with limited resources, using only a laptop, printer, Bank BC, and e-Mitra services. His monthly income at that time was approximately ₹6,000. With the support of the SMARTPUR Project, his centre was equipped with a solar power system, inverter, webcam, improved electrical infrastructure, lamination machine, tables, chairs, and other essential digital equipment. In addition, the project strengthened the centre's basic infrastructure, significantly improving the quality and efficiency of the services provided. As a result of the resources, regular handholding support, and capacity building provided through the project, Devilal's income increased substantially. His monthly earnings rose from ₹8,000 to approximately ₹20,000, significantly improving his family's financial condition. Today, he is able to serve a much larger number of people by providing a wide range of digital, banking, and government services through his SMARTPUR Centre. He has established himself as a trusted service provider within the local community. According to Devilal, the SMARTPUR Project has not only provided him with modern infrastructure and digital resources but has also enhanced his confidence, strengthened his livelihood, and created a sustainable pathway toward long-term economic growth.

Our Initiatives Transforming Lives

Awareness session Ward wise
Awareness session Ward wise
Dec 12, 2025
A ward-wise awareness strategy to ensure that information about digital services, government schemes, and SMARTPUR activities reached every section of the community. Instead of organizing only one large village-level meeting, separate awareness sessions were conducted in different wards, making it easier for people to participate. This approach enabled the Centre Facilitator to interact directly with households, identify eligible beneficiaries, and understand the specific needs of each ward. Women, senior citizens, farmers, youth, and persons with disabilities could attend sessions close to their homes, resulting in higher participation and better engagement.

Challenges addressed

Villagers had to travel to nearby towns for services such as caste, income, domicile, birth and death certificates, pension applications, and other government documents. This resulted in additional travel costs, loss of wages, and delays in availing government benefits. Banking facilities were not easily available within the Gram Panchayat. Residents had to travel long distances for cash withdrawals, deposits, account opening, and Aadhaar-enabled banking services. Awareness about financial inclusion schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY was limited. Many eligible families were unaware of welfare schemes such as PM-Kisan, e-Shram, social security pensions, scholarships, and Jan Aadhaar services. As a result, several beneficiaries missed out on entitlements.
