How This Centre Works
| A Smartpur Centre works as a one-stop community service and development hub in rural areas. It connects people with government welfare schemes, digital services, financial inclusion programs, and livelihood opportunities. The centre conducts awareness programs, digital literacy and skill development trainings, supports youth in accessing employment opportunities, and empowers women through entrepreneurship and self-employment initiatives. It also assists farmers and community members in availing banking services, insurance schemes, and social protection benefits. By bringing essential services closer to the community, the Smartpur Centre helps improve livelihoods, promote inclusive development, and create sustainable opportunities for rural households. |

Balaraj from Periya Obalapuram was running a small photocopy and computer shop, offering only basic services. During the SmartPur Project survey, local Panchayat stakeholders identified the need for CSC and E-Sevai services in the village and referred him to the REACHA team. With support from the Nokia SmartPur Project, facilitated by REACHA, his shop was upgraded into a SmartPur Centre, and he received both CSC and E-Sevai IDs. As a result, his monthly income increased from below ₹10,000 to around ₹15,000–₹16,000, improving his family's financial stability while enabling him to provide essential digital and government services to the community.

Who we serve
The Smartpur Centre is committed to supporting rural and economically weaker communities by serving women, youth, farmers, students, self-help group (SHG) members, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups. It helps people access government welfare programs, digital services, financial facilities, skill training, and livelihood opportunities. By working in collaboration with local communities and village-level stakeholders, the centre identifies community needs and delivers appropriate support. Its primary objective is to promote inclusive and sustainable rural development while enhancing digital awareness, improving access to essential services, and creating better opportunities that contribute to an improved quality of life for all community members.
Challenges addressed
The Smartpur Center has addressed key challenges in rural communities, such as limited access to digital services, lack of awareness of government welfare schemes, financial exclusion, and livelihood opportunities. Through awareness programs, digital literacy initiatives, skill development trainings, and financial inclusion activities, the center has helped connect communities with essential services. It has supported women, youth, and farmers by linking them to government schemes, banking services, and entrepreneurship opportunities. By promoting community participation and working with local stakeholders, the Smartpur Center has contributed to improving social and economic well-being at the grassroots level.
