How This Centre Works

Under the SMARTPUR Project, the SMARTPUR Centre at Nokhna serves as a community-managed digital service hub, providing integrated services related to digital inclusion, financial inclusion, education, livelihood, and governance. The centre facilitates access to government schemes, social security services, online applications, digital payments, and citizen services closer to the community.
In addition, the centre regularly conducts digital literacy classes, awareness sessions, community outreach programmes, and service camps to improve digital skills, increase awareness of government welfare schemes, and promote the use of digital public services. By bringing these services closer to the community, the SMARTPUR Centre is helping reduce the digital divide, strengthen financial inclusion, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Nokhna Gram Panchayat.

Devaram Rot, a resident of Nokhna Gram Panchayat, joined the SMARTPUR Project in 2024. Before joining the project, he operated his service centre with only a single laptop and provided Banking Correspondent (BC) services, earning approximately ₹6,000 per month. With support from the SMARTPUR Project, implemented by REACHA with the support of Nokia, his centre was equipped with essential infrastructure, including a printer, lamination machine, additional laptop, solar power system, inverter, tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment. These resources significantly enhanced the centre's operational capacity and enabled him to provide a wider range of digital and citizen-centric services. As a result of the project, Devaram's financial condition improved considerably. His monthly income increased from ₹6,000 to approximately ₹18,000, making his family's livelihood more stable and secure. According to Devaram, limited resources had previously restricted both the range of services he could offer and his earning potential. The modern equipment, reliable infrastructure, and technical support provided through the SMARTPUR Project strengthened his service centre and played a key role in tripling his monthly income. Today, Devaram confidently delivers quality digital and government services to the rural community while building a more secure and prosperous future for his family.

Challenges addressed

However, prior to the establishment of the SMARTPUR Centre, many residents had to travel to nearby towns to access government services, banking facilities, digital services, and information related to social protection schemes. Limited digital awareness and inadequate local support often resulted in delays in accessing government benefits.
