How This Centre Works

Under the SMARTPUR Project, the SMARTPUR Centre at Gada Kokal functions as a community-managed digital service hub that provides integrated services in the areas of Financial inclusion, livelihood, Education and governance. The centre enables community members to access government schemes, social security benefits, digital services, online applications, and financial services closer to home.

Manage the day-to-day operations of the SMARTPUR Centre. Deliver digital and e-governance services, including online applications, document services, and access to government schemes. Facilitate enrolment and support for social protection schemes such as pensions, Ayushman Bharat, e-Shram, Jan Dhan, and other welfare programmes. Provide banking and digital payment services (where applicable) and promote financial inclusion. Mobilise the community by promoting SMARTPUR services and encouraging citizens to utilise the centre.

Mahesh Kumar Amaliya, a resident of Gada Kokal Gram Panchayat, Dungarpur, started providing government and digital services to the local community after completing his graduation. However, due to limited infrastructure, frequent power outages, and low community awareness, he was able to offer only a few services, earning approximately ₹5,000 per month. In September 2024, Mahesh joined the SMARTPUR Project, implemented by REACHA with the support of Nokia. Through the project, his centre was equipped with essential digital infrastructure, technical support, and a solar inverter, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery even during power cuts. Community awareness campaigns also increased villagers' knowledge and use of government schemes and digital services. Today, Mahesh successfully operates the SMARTPUR Centre, providing a wide range of digital and government services to the community. The improved infrastructure and growing public trust have significantly increased the number of beneficiaries visiting the centre. As a result, his monthly income has increased from ₹5,000 to ₹18,000–20,000, demonstrating how the SMARTPUR model has strengthened both his livelihood and access to essential services for the rural community.

Challenges addressed

Limited availability of digital and government services within the Panchayat. Low awareness of government welfare schemes and digital services among villagers. Many eligible beneficiaries were unable to access government schemes due to a lack of information and support. Frequent power outages disrupted service delivery, forcing citizens to wait for long hours or return without receiving services.
