How This Centre Works

The Nokia Smartpur Centre in Dol Kunjela serves as a digital service hub for the local community, making essential public and digital services accessible within the village. Operated by trained local facilitators, the centre bridges the gap between rural communities and government services through technology-enabled solutions.
The centre provides support across Smartpur's four pillars: Education, Financial Inclusion, Governance, Livelihood. Residents can access online government services, digital documentation, financial transactions, telemedicine support, skill development programmes, and awareness sessions without travelling to distant towns. By collaborating with government departments, educational institutions, banking partners, and local community leaders, the centre promotes digital literacy, entrepreneurship, financial awareness, and improved access to welfare schemes while empowering youth, women, farmers, and other underserved groups.

Nepal Damor, a resident of Dolkunjela Gram Panchayat, started a rural service centre with the vision of providing government and digital services to his community. In the initial phase, he operated the centre with very limited resources, having only a single laptop and lacking essential facilities such as a printer, Banking Correspondent (BC) services, and other digital infrastructure. As a result, he was unable to deliver a comprehensive range of services to villagers, and his monthly income remained limited to approximately ₹12,000. In September 2024, Nepal Damor became part of the SMARTPUR Project, implemented by REACHA with the support of Nokia. Under the project, his centre was equipped with modern digital infrastructure, including additional laptops, printers, Banking Correspondent (BC) services, and other essential resources. Today, the SMARTPUR Centre is fully equipped with a dedicated service room, two laptops, two printers, a storage cabinet, Banking BC facility, a webcam, a solar power system, an inverter, uninterrupted power backup, tables, and chairs. With these enhanced facilities, Nepal is now able to provide banking, government, and digital services to rural citizens more efficiently and with improved quality. The upgraded infrastructure has significantly increased the number of beneficiaries visiting the centre, while his monthly income has grown from approximately ₹12,000 to around ₹20,000. Nepal Damor's journey demonstrates how access to modern technology, adequate infrastructure, and institutional support can strengthen rural entrepreneurship, improve livelihoods, and expand access to quality digital services for the entire community. He expressed his sincere gratitude to REACHA and the SMARTPUR Project for enabling this transformative change.
